Barbara J. (Von Haden) Bronstad, 47, of Eau Claire, formerly of Fall Creek, died Monday at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Barbara Jean, daughter of Jim and Mary (King) Von Haden was born May 2, 1966. She was raised in Augusta, where she attended grade and junior high school and was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. Barb also attended Fall Creek High School and graduated from Memorial High School in 1984. She attended U.W. Eau Claire and graduated with a nursing degree from Chippewa Valley Technical College. Barb had worked as an editor for the Tri County Newspaper and as a registered nurse at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center, until ill health forced her early retirement. Barb was united in marriage to David Bronstad in August of 1990 and the couple made their home in Fall Creek before divorcing. Barbara enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, canning tomatoes, going to the beach with friends, searching out and collecting antiques and riding her motorcycle. She truly loved her Lord and wherever Barb went she shared her faith in Jesus, although perhaps not with the polish you would find from the church pew, but with true passion and conviction. Barb’s family takes comfort in knowing she is now with her Lord. Her last kind act was to have been an organ donor, but the circumstances under which she died only allowed her to be a “donor of the heart.” Barb’s family meant the world to her. Sharing her life with her large extended family, her own children and her grandson gave her a life filled with love.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her 3 children, April Rohrer, Joe Von Haden (Amber Yaw) all of Fargo, ND, Josh Bronstad (Sara Markgren) of Eau Claire; grandson, Hunter Rohrer of Fargo; father, Jim “Hoot” Von Haden (Sheryl Prochnow) of Fall Creek; mother, Mary (Roy) White of Sanford, Maine; brother Tim Von Haden of Kenai, Alaska; sister, Becky (Mark) Larson of Fall Creek; nephew and godson, Nick Larson, nieces, Mattie Von Haden, Sara Heath, Abbi and Molly Larson; father of April and Joe, Jamie Owen, father of Josh, Dave Bronstad; long time friend, Denise Kuhnert, several aunts, uncles and numerous cousins who she adored spending time with.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Adolph and Kathryn Von Haden, Esther and Ed Doty.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with burial in West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the ER and CCU staff and physicians at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. We know all of you went above and beyond providing professional care and genuine concern for Barb and the family, for this we will be forever grateful. Barb would want her family and friends to celebrate her life so following the services at the cemetery everyone is invited to a pot-luck supper and bon-fire at the home of Mark and Becky Larson on Hillview Drive, rural Fall Creek.
