Shawn Patrick Flynn, 59, Augusta, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly at his home September 9, 2013.
Shawn was born in Eau Claire January 2, 1954 to Catherine (O’Brien) and James Flynn. His family relocated to Bloomington, Minnesota during his youth, then to Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from high school. Shawn returned to Eau Claire where he earned a business degree from CVTC in 1975.
He married Linda Nolan in 1979. They were married 29 years and had two children, Shannon and Justin. Shawn was employed at Car City Honda, for 18 years, where he was their consistent top salesman and later general manager.
In 1997 he started his own business, Flynn Automotive, which he owned and operated with his son Justin until his death.
Shawn treasured time spent with his family. He loved to fish, go boating and feed the ducks and geese on Lake Eau Claire. He had a special place in his heart for dogs, especially his golden retriever, Dandy.
Survivors include his children, Shannon Flynn and Justin Flynn, his former wife, Linda, a sister Sheila McAdams, Eau Claire; a brother, Kevin Flynn, Grand Rapids, Minnesota; two aunts, Patricia O’Brien and Margaret O’Brien, both of Eau Claire and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Ron Flynn and a sister Mary Buckli; his parents James and Catherine Flynn and a favorite aunt, Alice O’Brien.
Services will be held Sat., September 14, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Augusta, with a visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. and a prayer vigil following at 4:00 p.m.
The family will have a private burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be donated to Fr. Klimek’s Endowment Fund, Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
Shawn’s outgoing and charismatic personality, his compassion and generosity for others will be sadly missed.
