Art Nix
Arthur J. Nix, 90, of Foster, rural Strum, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.  

Arthur Joseph Nix, son of Sebastian and Kathryn (Kernan) Nix was born Sept. 19, 1923 in Eau Claire. He lived all his life in Clear Creek Township on the farm that was in his family for 3 generations. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Brackett and held his membership there until transferring to St. Raymond’s of Penafort. He attended Allen Grade School and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Eau Claire in 1941. Following high school, Art enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served stateside for four years. After his honorable discharge he returned to the family farm. He was united in marriage to Virginia Otto on Aug. 27, 1947 at Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church. In addition to farming the home farm, Art worked for 30 years with the road patrol for Clear Creek Township. He had served on the Allen School Board, the Regis School Board and on the building committee for St. Raymond’s Catholic Church. He had also served on the Mid America Dairy Board. He was a member of the Brackett American Legion.

Art will be deeply missed by Virginia his wife of 66 years of rural Strum; 6 sons, Patrick (Jane) Nix of Strum, Steven (Betty) Nix of Allen, rural Strum; Mark (Pamela) Nix of Osseo, Vincent Nix, Ronald (Nancy) Nix all of Eau Claire, Kevin Nix of St. Croix Falls; 3 daughters, Barbara (Tom) Mackaben of Eau Claire, Rosemary (Matthew) Ayres of Hanover, N.H; Eileen Nix of Kent, WA; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Ayres, Benjamin Ayres, Amanda (Adam Wolf) Nix, Joseph Nix, Garrett (Heather) Nix, Kaitlin Nix; 3 sisters, Mary Ellen (John) Mulholland of Randolph, N.J., Virgene Oldenburg of LaCrosse, Kathleen (Eike) Richter of Vancouver, WA. 
  

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Francis, Edmund and George Nix.  

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raymond’s of Penafort Catholic Church, rural Fall Creek, with Father Sakowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Raymond’s of Penafort Catholic Church and also 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
