Carol Grohn Schaal, 57, of W17098 County Road OO, Osseo, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, comforted by the love of her family.
Carol Lee Grohn, daughter of Lawrence “Butch” and Hilda (Hehl) Grohn was born Jan. 29, 1956 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. Carol was raised in Fall Creek where she attended grade and high school. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Fall Creek, and there she was united in marriage to Larry Marvin Knuth on Feb. 3, 1973. While her husband served in the military, Carol with her young family moved to the various places he was stationed. They had lived in Germany, Tennessee and Kentucky before moving to Colorado. While in Colorado she attended Blair Community College. After her divorce she married Timothy Dean Schaal on Dec. 23, 1992 in Colorado Springs, CO. To be near her family, Carol moved back to Wisconsin with Tim their daughter Laura, and made their home in Hale Township, rural Osseo. While in the township she was a member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church.
For many years Carol worked as an assistant manager with Checker Auto Parts, which became O’Reilly Auto Parts. Carol had a wide variety of interests. She found solitude when sewing, crocheting, knitting and cake decorating, but also enjoyed a spirited game of cards, swimming and riding her horses. She especially loved spending time with her family, the grandkids and her many friends.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Tim of Osseo; 3 sons, Richie and Tracie Knuth of Elk Mound, Robert Knuth and Kerri White of Calhan, CO, Raymond Knuth of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 daughters, Christine Hjornevik and Mike Wogh of Blair, Laura Schaal of Osseo; 15 grandchildren, 4 sisters, Ida and Merlin Jahnke of Birchwood, WI, Joyce Smith and Jim Dittman of Cottondale, Alabama, Joann and Fred Ellis of Beaver Dam, WI, Linda and Roman Buettner of Shawnee, KS, father-in law and mother-in-law, Virgil and Joan Schaal of Peyton, CO.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Elk Creek Lutheran Church, W16316 County Road OO, Osseo, WI.
