Doris M. Sell, 79, of rural Osseo, passed away peacefully Friday evening, January 18, 2013, at Crystal Lake Manor Nursing Home in Strum. Â
Doris Muriel Sell, daughter of Herman and Sophie (Pape) Gaede was born April 18, 1933, in the Pine Hill area of Manchester Township, Jackson County. At the age of 10 she moved with her family to rural Fairchild, where she attended Pettisville Country School and graduated from Fairchild High School. Â
On September 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Milan Sell at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2001. In 1953 the couple moved to Milan’s grandfather’s farm near Foster. In 1976, they moved to the home they built on highway 53, where Doris lived until recently moving to Crystal Lake Manor, where she was in hospice care. Â
Through the years Doris had worked seasonally at King’s Cranberry Marsh in Fairchild. She also worked at the Dime Store in Augusta, where she enjoyed her time working with Dorothy Arndt. She then took employment at Prange-Way in Eau Claire, before she started as a clerk at K-Mart, working with them until her retirement. Doris loved spending time with her friends, reading, gardening and canning, baking & cooking, going to the casino, stopping at yard sales and the companionship of her beloved & faithful dog Rip. Â
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Thomas) Shane of Menomonie; grandson, Travis (Brooke) Behling of Augusta; granddaughters, Vicki Jo(Dale) Adams of Elk Mound, Valerie (Cory) Boiteau of Eau Claire; great grandchildren, Denver and Jayden Behling, Chase and McKenzie Adams, Aubrey and Callie Behling; brother, Donald (Sarah) Gaede of Fairchild; sister, Arlene Piel of Menomonie; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Gaede of Fairchild, Alpha Jean Gaede of Tomah; several nieces and nephews; step grandchildren, Jackie Shane (Mike Mitzer) of Arkansas, WI, Mathew (DaLanna) Shane of Colfax and 2 step great grandchildren, Kennedy and Kayleigh Shane.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milan on Dec. 6, 2004, daughter Diane in 1953, brothers, Ralph & his wife, Evangeline, Everette and Norman Gaede, nephews, Jerome Sell & Gary Gaede, niece, Judy Huntington, brother-in-law, Eldon Sell and Milan and Doris’s dog, Max.Â
Doris went for a walk and walked until she got tired. It was getting late and when she got to a bench she sat on it. She knew she couldn’t make it home and started to worry when the Lord touched her and said “you can’t go home but follow me and I’ll take you to the promise land.â€? “When the good Lord is ready Doris, look down the path and you will see me coming to be with you. Your brother, Donald.â€?Â
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
