Dortha Sell
Dortha Earlene Sell (Yule), age 93, passed away on Thursday evening October 24, 2013 at the Augusta Area Nursing Home.

Dortha, daughter of Earl and Mildred Yule was born on Feb. 15, 1920 on the Yule home farm, rural Osseo,WI. After graduating from Augusta High School she worked doing housework in Eau Claire and Menomonie. She was united in marriage to Erwin Sell on May 7, 1941. The couple moved to her home farm in Otter Creek Township, rural Augusta, where they made their living farming. In June of 1942, the couple was blessed with the birth of their son, Robert “Bob” who was the light of her life. Dortha's whole world revolved around teaching Bob the true appreciation for the simple things in life; picking apples and elderberries off their land, getting a fresh egg from their chickens, gardening, and showing kindness to all God's creations. She enjoyed crafts, embroidery and making her Texas Star hand made quilts. Another love of her life was fishing with her husband, going to their cabin in Canada or fishing in Alma.

After retiring from farming, Dortha began a new career working as a CNA at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire. She had worked there nearly 20 years when hip replacement surgery forced her retirement. She truly loved the work she did as she was a very caring, compassionate sweet lady.
In 1992, after her husband suffered a stroke he entered the Augusta Area Nursing Home. He passed away in 1996. After Erwin’s passing Dortha got her first house cat Itzzy Bitzzy, who comforted her and kept her going until Itzzy passed away in 2006.
Dortha had Itzzy cremated and wanted her buried in the casket with her when the time came that God would call Dortha home.

In Sept. 2007 Dortha entered the Augusta Area Nursing Home where she spent the last chapter of her life for 6 years.
While at the home, Dortha developed her voice of opinion when she became president of the resident council. She was an active resident who rarely missed an activity, especially BINGO!

Survivors include her son Robert and his wife Jean, who was the daughter she never had; granddaughter, Nancy; 2 sisters, Muriel Collier of Texan and Cathy Piper of Minnesota; 2 brothers, David and Leo Yule of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin, parents, stepmother Ruth, brother James, Gordon and Donald, infant sister Claris Ann and her much loved house cat Itzzy Bitzzy.

Bob and Jean would like to thank the Augusta Area Nursing Home for all the love, compassion and excellent care that both Dortha and Erwin received. Also a big thanks to Patsy and the awesome activity department. Dortha loved her Bingo! Special thank you to Jean's sister Ruth for all the love and friendship she gave Dortha. God Bless all of you.
