Candy Benson
Candy Benson, 59, of rural Fairchild, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 8, 2014, at her home in the loving care of her family and Black River Hospice.

Colleen “Candy” Marie Benson, was born Sept. 24, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Stanton and Virginia (Potter) Porter. As a child she attended school in Augusta. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, by Rev. E. G. Schedler, it was also there that she was united in marriage to Richard Allen Benson, on March 15, 1980. Candy lived most of her life in the Fairchild area. She had worked for many years as a cook at C. J’s Restaurant, Olson Café and the Alan House all in Osseo. Due to failing health she retired in 2006. 

  Candy will be dearly missed by Richard; 5 children, Carmen Marie (Roger) King of Neillsville, D. J. (Margie) Benson of Whitehall, Kaysie Korhonen of and David (Tonya) Simcox of all of Kettle River, MN, Jackie Prock (Herb) of Rock Ledge, Florida; 14 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Susan Edington and Cheryl Porter both of Fairchild, Linda Porter and Kelly Jean both of Florida; Richard's siblings, Ronald (Coralie) Benson of Schofield, Rita (Bill) Seiler of Elephant Butte, NM, Robert (Mert) Benson of Fairchild, Rosie (Nick) Sprang of Beaver Dam, Ruth (Duane) Wampole of Mosinee, Raymond (Diane) Benson of Boyd, sister-in-law, Georgia Benson of Mosinee; several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her father Stanton in 2009, mother, Virginia in 2011, and brother-in-law, Roger Benson.  

Private family services will be held in the Fairchild Cemetery, conducted by Pastor Joe Weiers. 

  The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Black River Hospice and Candy's sister Cheryl, for the wonderful care given to Candy during her illness. Also a special thank you to hospice volunteer Judi Wensel, who's friendship meant a great deal to Candy.
