Jeffrey J. Carlson, “Doc”, 60 of Augusta, passed away Wed. Jan. 1, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Jeffrey John Carlson, son of John and Cecelia (Katzbahn) Carlson was born April 22, 1953 in Duluth, Minnesota. After his father passed away in June of 1962, Cecelia moved with her 2 children to Milwaukee and in 1967 they moved to Fairchild. Jeff was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild and graduated from Osseo-Fairchild High School in 1971. He married Nancy Boetcher on June 24, 1979 in Augusta, to this union their 2 daughters were born. Following their divorce he married Kathy Woodford Buttke in 2005.
Jeff had hauled milk for the Dairy Maid Co-op Creamery in Augusta before working at Bush Brothers Canning Company. He eventually started working on the road crew for the Town of Bridge Creek and was currently working on the highway department for Eau Claire County. While living in Augusta he had been a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Augusta Jaycees. For over 30 years he had been a member of the Augusta-Bridge Creek Volunteer Fire Department, assistant chief and secretary with the department for over 20 years and was also a First Responder. For many years with the department he helped with the line-up and flow of the Bean and Bacon Day Parade. He also enjoyed his involvement with the “Rock Dam Crew”, camping at Rock Dam, four wheeling, fishing and hunting. For nearly 25 years he partnered with Ken Zich pitching horseshoes and for the past 18 years they pitched for BZ Trucking.
He will be deeply missed by his 3 children, daughter, Nicole and Jeremy Gilbert-Rasso and their children, Daisia, Quentin, Tavian and Luciana of Augusta; daughter, Kelli and Adam Sawyer and their children, Dominik, Skyler and Rylan of Wisconsin Rapids; son, Scott Lovelien of Augusta; sister Debra and Geoffrey Kelly of Osseo and their children, Justin (Sherry) Kelly, Kimberly (Josh) Kittelson; step-father Leonard Zimmerman of Fairchild; special friend, Sue Hera of Stanley and her children, Dawn Goodman, Carrie (Hal) DeMars, Dennis (Lynn) Hera and Kyle Hera; step children, Matt, Trisha and Zach Buttke and their children.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1962, his mother in 2004.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Gary Sahs officiating. Friends may call Monday from for 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
