Ursula E. Fischer, 98, formerly of rural Fairchild, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 31, 2014 at the Oakridge Nursing Home, Osseo.
Ursula Else Fischer, daughter of Albert and Else (Dewein) Juhnke was born October 6, 1915 in Berlin, Germany. She was raised in Berlin, where she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She graduated high school and furthered her education at a German University where she received translating and secretarial training. Ursula had been employed by the German government as a secretary.
Ursula met Paul Fischer while he was in Germany delivering needed supplies to families and also visiting relatives. The couple later married on Sept. 16, 1950 in Berlin. In 1953, Ursula and Paul settled in Milwaukee, where they started their family. Ursula enjoyed living in Milwaukee where she met other families of German background. In 1962 the family moved to their farm in the town of Fairchild. While in Fairchild, Ursula was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading and studying the bible both privately and with other ladies in the community. Her love for the Lord and her family was her mainstay. She was a very charitable soul, giving to many Christian organizations and to the blind. She loved spending time with her family playing cards, working crossword puzzles, shopping, walking and traveling. She traveled while living in Europe and after moving to the United States she returned several times and also travel throughout the United States.
Ursula will be deeply missed by her 3 children; daughter, Claudia Fischer of Madison; 2 sons, Roland Fischer and Michael and his wife, Lonie Fischer all of Fairchild; 2 granddaughters, Rebecca and her husband, Chris Kauer of Black Earth, Rachel Fischer of Eau Claire.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gunther and Klaus Juhnke; and husband Paul on Sept. 16, 1985.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairchild, with Pastor Ricky Bertels officiating. Burial will be in the Fairchild Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday before the services starting at 9:00 a.m. at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
