Roy Gilbert
Roy E. Gilbert, 84, of Eau Claire passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire.  

Roy Edward Gilbert was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Elkhart, Indiana. He moved with his mother and brother to Augusta, where he was raised by his mother Pauline (Osborn) and step father, Gordy Strader. Roy graduated from Augusta High School and also attended trade school. In 1950 he was united in marriage to LaDonna Benson in Augusta, to this union 3 children were born. The couple lived in Tomah before moving to Menomonie. While in Menomonie, Roy worked in the tire department of Montgomery Wards and later went on to manage the Menomonie Bauer Built Tire and Service Company. He eventually moved to Eau Claire, working in the same position for Bauer Built at the Eau Claire location. Roy married Bonnie (Crank) Hatleli on Nov. 6, 1976 in Eau Claire. The couple lived in Augusta, before moving to Menomonie and eventually to Eau Claire. Due to failing health he had been a resident of the Clairemont Nursing Home since 2007. 

Roy is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Eau Claire; son, Steve and Janie Gilbert of Downsville; 2 daughters, Deb Link (Don Sundin) of Maplewood, MN, Kathy Gilbert of Menomonie; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 8 stepchildren, Rhonda (William) Iverson, Jocelyn Hatleli (Lenny), Raymond “Randy” Hatleli, Kenneth “Kelly” (DiAnna) Hatleli, Timothy Hatleli, Anthony (Cathy) Hatleli, Daniel Hatleli, Blane Hatleli: and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Gordy, and stepdaughter, Danita Roberts. 

Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Steve Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
