Evelyn Kohn
Evelyn Kohn, formerly of Fairchild, WI, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 1, 2014, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI. Evelyn Louise Kohn was born on June 8, 1917, in Fairchild. She was one of 14 children born to John and Mary Matysik. Her relatives knew her better as Aunt Zinnie.  

She was united in marriage to Henry Francis Kohn on June 11, 1935 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fairchild. Evelyn and Henry took over the 52-year-old homestead on September 1, 1939 and farmed the property for an additional 40 years. In 1979, they passed the homestead on to their son Larry and his wife Betty. Evelyn enjoyed dancing, and playing the piano, organ, and guitar. Occasionally with Henry on his accordion, and their daughter Betty on her saxophone, they provided music for local weddings and anniversaries. Evelyn was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church Alter Society. Due to failing health, she entered Dove Healthcare on May 2, 2009. 

  Evelyn is survived by her son, Larry and daughter-in-law Betty Kohn of rural Fairchild, two daughters, Shirley Petznick of rural Fairchid, and Betty and son-in-law Frank Vojtik of Madison. She had 7 grandchildren, Dawn Petznick Bedell, Lesa Petzntick Anderson, Debbie Vojtik Jackson, Lori Vojtik Troemner, Leslie Kohn Rossow, Kristen Kohn Christenson, and Sheri Kohn Lawson. She was also survived by 16 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary, husband Henry, son-in-law Lloyd Petznick, and siblings Helen Eiseberner, Martha Harris, Elizabeth Holt, Frances Krumholz, Clara Dunn, Cathrine Watson, Mary Olsen, Leona Bever, Vivian Bever, Angie Crave, Johnnie, Edward and Joseph Matysik.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fairchild with Rev. David Rydicki officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
