Sharon “Tootie” Marten, 63, of Foster, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
“Tootie,” Sharon Kay Marten was born June 26, 1951 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Elmer and Charlotte (Bosher) Marten. She attended grade school in Foster and graduated in 1969 from Osseo-Fairchild High School. Tootie was employed for 34 years at the Augusta Farmer’s Union - Foster Cenex , most of that time as manager. After leaving that position, she and her sister operated the Foster Cheese Haus for 7 years. Tootie was a life long baptized and confirmed member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Foster, where she had served at one time as Council President. She enjoyed fast pitched softball and for many years pitched for the Foster’s Girls Team and for Ken Lane’s Buckhorn Bar. She also bowled with several leagues in Eau Claire and Augusta. Tootie had been a charter member of the Foster Lions Club. Tootie loved her family and friends and if Tootie was anywhere near, a good time was had by all. She looked forward to the Friday morning gathering at the Foster Cenex with the “coffee gang” and her almost nightly rides and supper with Cousin Richard. Tootie had been in ill health since July but was still able to keep in contact with family and friends through face book and enjoyed spending time on the computer.
Tootie will be dearly missed by her sister, Cheryl and Dan Lucht of Foster; brother, Lavern “Mart” Martin of Westchester, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Shannon Martin, Dana Martin, Jeff Martin (Amy Mc Connaughy), Dave (Denise) Martin, Julie (Scott) Medley; great nieces and nephews, Carley Medley, Michael, Jennifer, D’Ann and Leah Martin, and Kelly Mc Connaughy; special friends, Peggy and Wayne Reetz of Osseo, Tammy, Greg, Ethan and Eleice Dahl, Gwen and Johnny Welke and their family; and special neighbors, Glenn, Jill, Jessica and Justin Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her mother in June of 1988; her father in Oct. of 1998; and sister-in-law, Marlene Martin.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Foster, with Pastor Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Tootie had requested only a few flowers be given.
