Vera E. Baker, daughter of Elgart and Lydia (Sell) Knuth, was born Aug. 29, 1936 in Ludington Township, Eau Claire County. She attended Pine View Country School and graduated from Fall Creek High School. Vera was united in marriage to Elmer Schulz on Sept. 22, 1956, at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. After Elmer passed away in 1968, Vera had been employed at the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home, the Fry and Baker Bar, Weber Bar and the Chicken Chaser Bar all in Fall Creek, before taking a job working in Eau Claire County through home health care. While working at Fry and Baker's she met Donald Baker, the couple later married on Aug. 4, 1973 in Fall Creek. Don and Vera loved living in the country where they resided together for 31 years. After Don passed away on July 27, 2004, Vera continued to live in her home in the country where she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her life revolved around her family, her children, grandchildren and beloved great grandchildren. Over the years she enjoyed tending to her vegetable, fruit and flower gardens, and she had also worked at the Lincoln Township Recycling Center. Next to spending time with family, her most favorite pass time was weaving rag rugs. Through the years she had made thousand of rugs, place mats and table runners.
