Amanda “Toots” Biegel, 99, formerly of Augusta, passed away early Monday morning, June 15, 2015 at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.
Amanda was born on November 28, 1915, in Kramer, North Dakota, the second to the youngest of 15 children born to Gustave and Christina (Stubbe) Krenz. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Kramer, where she was also raised and attended school. Toots followed her older siblings to Wisconsin, where she met Robert William Biegel. The couple later married on May 23, 1953 in Stillwater, MN. Toots and Bob lived all their married life in Bridge Creek Township, rural Augusta. Through the years Toots had worked in Augusta, as a waitress at the Nu Café with her sister, Rose Von Asten and as a bartender for Kenny and Jan Lane’s Buckhorn Bar. After Bob passed away on June 22, 1990, she eventually moved to an apartment in Fall Creek. Due to a fall and unable to live alone she had been a resident of the Syverson Lutheran Home since Nov. of 2005. With Bob, Toots had enjoyed going fishing and spending time outdoors. Toots also enjoyed her family at the Syverson. She had always been a very out going and social person and this personality carried with her to the home. She always looked forward to attending the events hosted by the home, especially when it involved music. She never missed a church service in the chapel, not only as a parishioner but also as the greeter and the one who handed out the bulletins.
Toots will be deeply missed by several nieces and nephews; special niece and caregiver, Eilene Muenkel of Osseo and her family; brother-in-law, Art “Pete” and Jerri Biegel of Augusta; and her wonderful and loving family at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents and 14 siblings.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at the Syverson Lutheran Home for taking Amanda “Toots” into their hearts and giving her such a loving family and home.
