Izora A. Hollister, 93, formerly of Foster and Osseo, passed away early Sunday morning, April 19, 2015, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona, where she had been a resident since July of 2014.
Izora Amelia Hollister, daughter of James and Amelia (Schnetter) Heather was born Aug. 21, 1921 in Flint, Michigan. As a child she was baptized at Methodist Episcopal Church in Michigan, before moving with her family to Racine, Wisconsin. Izora was raised and attended school in Racine, and it was there that she later worked at the Case Corporation. While at Case, Izora met Forrest Hollister, the two later married on July 8, 1944 in Waukegan, Illinois. The couple lived in Racine and also in Arizona, before moving to northwestern Wisconsin, eventually settling in Foster. After moving to Foster she became a confirmed member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. After Forrest passed away in 1979, Izora moved into Osseo, and worked until her retirement as a janitor at the Osseo Elementary School. In addition to raising her 9 children, Izora spent time in her many gardens and over the years she had enjoyed league bowling with her daughters, working needle point and playing games with family and friends, especially BINGO and many different card games.
Izora will be deeply missed by her six children, Walter and his wife, Roxanne Hollister of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Peggy Hollister of Lancaster, Paul and his wife Sandra Hollister of Osseo, Rose Adams of Eau Claire, Henry and his wife, Lona Hollister of Strum and Norman Hollister of Eau Claire; 27 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Emerson of Kenosha.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Sally Gonzalez, Lois Hollister, Elaine Nelson; granddaughter, Melissa Peterson; and siblings.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Foster, with burial in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Foster. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the church. The family is assisted by Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
