Lyle E. LaRose, 72, of Augusta, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015.
Lyle Eugene LaRose, son of Clifford and Tessie (Spencer) LaRose was born March 9, 1943 in Eau Claire. He was raised in Fairchild where he attended school. After moving from Fairchild he lived with his brother Vilas and his family in Eau Claire. For a time he also lived in Chippewa Falls before moving to the Augusta area.
While in Augusta he had made his home on the Milton “Red” Dickinsen farm where he worked as a farm hand. He eventually moved to the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Mary LaRose of rural Fairchild, and then into the city of Augusta. For the past 13 years he had made his home in the Augusta Apartments. In addition to farm work Lyle had also been employed by Willie Rouleau doing concrete construction, he enjoyed helping Damon Redmond in his small engine repair business and cutting wood with the Mansur family.
Lyle loved watching movies, especially older westerns. His knowledge of movie trivia was very impressive. He could remember the actor’s stage and real names and the roles they played in each movie. He also loved following baseball from his beginning with the Milwaukee Braves to the Brewers. All of his life he had a fond love and soft spot for all animals. One of his favorite pastimes was walking. He loved the solitude of his walks and commented that during his walks he was “Always in God’s World.” For many years, several times a week he would walk the railroad tracks from Augusta to Fairchild often to visit the Thunder family.
