Edward Pelzek
Edward J. Pelzek, 91, of Fairchild, passed away Friday evening, May 1, 2015, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Edward Jerome Pelzek, son of Antone and Josie (Mlynek) Pelzek was born October 1, 1923, in Fairchild. He was raised in Fairchild, where he attended school. On January 26, 1944, he was united in marriage to Ethel Geneva Sackett in Neillsville. Ed and Ethel farmed and raised their family just outside of Fairchild. In addition to farming, Ed had also worked at Osseo Silo and hauled gravel. In the summer of 1954, he took his family to Montana, where for several months he worked on a ranch. He returned back to his farm in Fairchild, which he operated until 1972, when the couple built their home and moved into the village of Fairchild. After Ed retired from farming, he worked for Kramschuster’s Construction and eventually as a self-employed carpenter. Up until recent months he was still harvesting the wood from Eau Claire County wood lots and putting in a small garden. Through the years Ed had enjoyed fishing and tending to his many gardens. Although he was not farming anymore, he never lost his interest in John Deere tractors and still enjoyed using, buying and selling them.
Due to failing health, Ed had entered the Augusta Area Nursing Home on Jan. 5, 2015.

Ed will be deeply missed by his 2 daughters, Judy Lynd of Altoona, Linda Darling of Fairchild; 2 sons, Jerry (Connie) Pelzek of Eau Claire, Rodney (Brenda) Pelzek of Fairchild; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Lauri) Bruder, Clifford (Audra) Bruder, Jerome Pelzek (Roberta Meyer), Kim (Matt) Slowiak, Amanda (Jordon) Johnson, Ryan Darling (Kesi Bertrang), Rodney Pelzek (Jessica Lane); 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sackett of Augusta.

Ed was preceded in death by his father in 1973; his mother in 1980; wife, Ethel on January 1, 2013; siblings, Lloyd Pelzek, Helen Rick, Anna Johnson; son-in-law, C.L. Lynd; and great granddaughter, Madeline Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Fairchild Cemetery.
