Clifford Peterson
Clifford Melvin Peterson, 75, of Augusta, died peacefully at home on Saturday morning Dec. 19, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Mayo Home Hospice.

Clifford, son of Melvin and Cora (Paulson) Peterson was born on May 17, 1940 on the family farm in Trempealeau County. He was confirmed at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1954, and graduated from Osseo Lincoln Hill High School in 1958. Clifford was united in marriage to Anita Sieg on June 25, 1960 at the E.U.B. Church in Augusta. The couple lived in rural Augusta all their married life where they raised their three daughters. Clifford had worked for Don Sieg Trucking and Hagen Decorators of Eau Claire. He was working at the Uniroyal Tire Company in Eau Claire at the time they closed operation and then worked until his retirement in the maintenance department at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire.

Clifford was a skilled craftsman and always had a project on his workbench. He built both the houses that he raised his family and retired in. In the spring he was out in the woods collecting sap for making maple syrup, in the summer he was tending his garden and in the fall he was making lefse. He enjoyed gardening, raising bees, hunting, and traveling; especially going out west to see family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and helping them in any way he could.

Clifford is survived by Anita, his wife of 55 years; three daughters, Shelly and Bill Gabler, Sherry and Mark Meeks all of Augusta, Carla Peterson of Eau Claire; 6 grandchildren, Natalie (Lewey) Sandberg, Grant Gabler, Trent Gabler (Justin Miller), Kate, Trevor and Emily Meeks; 4 great-grandchildren, Audra, Bennett, Heath and Eastin Sandberg. He is also survived by three sisters, Alvina Hagen of Eau Claire, Millie Herman of Osseo, Linda (Ed) Heiman of Blair; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol (Steve) Ives and Tim Olson all of Osseo; as well as many nieces and nephews. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Cora Peterson; sister Mavis Matchey; and Anita’s parents, Ralph and Orissa Sieg.

Memorial services will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Augusta, with burial in the Thompson Valley Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services Monday also at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Sakti Chakrabarti and the staff with Eau Claire Mayo Cancer Center and Home Hospice. We will never forget your kindness, genuine concern and wonderful care shown to Clifford during this difficult time.
