Betty Philips
Betty J. Philips, 85, of Augusta, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 at the Augusta Area Nursing Home.

Betty Jean Philips, daughter of Adolph and Bessie Buryanek, was born April 11, 1930 in Westfield, Iowa. She was raised in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School in 1948. After high school she met and married Robert Philips on April 8, 1950.Bob and Betty farmed for a short time in Iowa. Due to Bob's job they eventually moved to Wisconsin in the early 1970's. Betty kept herself busy working for Augusta Housing and doing janitorial work for the Augusta United Methodist Church.Betty was involved in the community, whether it was being a part of local organizations, her church, or simply helping out people that needed it. She was always willing to bake some sweets and loved being in the kitchen. Betty will always be remembered for her willingness to help out anyone and she had the biggest heart that radiated to everyone that was around her.

Betty's true passions were spending time with family, friends, taking care of her grand kids, attending school sporting events and helping out wherever she could. She will forever be remembered for the love she had for her family, her sincerity and the generosity she showed to everyone.

Betty will be dearly missed by 4 children, Jim Philips of Utica, Kentucky; Barb (Rick) Echter of Sibley, Iowa; Todd (Susan) Philips of St. Paul, Minnesota; Sharon (Greg) Zimmerman of Augusta; 6 grandchildren, Brad (Becky) Echter; Eric (Kelli) Echter; Ryan (Val) Echter; Renae (Brady Shaffer)Zimmerman; David Zimmerman, Troy Zimmerman; 4 sisters; Vera Diediker of Laurel, Nebraska; Mildred (Clyde) Westrosky of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota; Mary (Roger) Osborn of Kellogg, Iowa; Marlis (Frank) Asprey, West Sacramento, California; 3 sisters-in-law; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Philips; her parents; daughter-in-law, Fran Philips; mother-in-law and father-in-law; sister, Helen Tindall; brothers, Lenoard Buryanek, Frank Buryanek, and Jim Buryanek; 2 brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Augusta, with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. A visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church and also 1 hour prior to services Monday at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
