Clara Ann Roeber, 91, of Augusta passed away early Sunday morning, June 28, 2015 at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.
Clara Ann, daughter of Loyed and Edna (Osborn) Taggart was born February 13, 1924 in Augusta. She attended elementary school in Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School. While roller skating in Independence, Clare met Ralph Roeber. The couple later married on June 3, 1942 in Caledonia, Minnesota. Except for a short time that Clara and Ralph lived on a farm near Osseo, she had lived her entire life in Augusta. Clara had worked at Anderson Canning Company in Augusta, before taking a job at the Kmart in Eau Claire. She eventually left Kmart to establish her own business, the Augusta Cab Service. Clara operated the cab service for many years, sometimes with the help of her husband. This was not only a business for Clara, but through the years she developed many lasting friendships with her clients. Clara was an avid reader and a wonderful homemaker. With the help of Ralph, she raised beautiful gardens and also enjoyed collecting lighthouses and loved the companionship of her various dogs and cats. She had been a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Augusta and active with their women's fellowship. Clara was such a wonderful soul and will be dearly missed by so many people.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Roeber of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Betty Taggart of Eau Claire; several nieces, nephews and their families. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph on Dec. 21, 2005; sister Ruby and her husband Warren Works; and by her brother Charles Taggart.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Augusta, with Pastor Lon Jury officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
