Carl Schluter
Carl N. Schluter, age 93, of Fairchild, Wisconsin, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital inMarshfield, Wisconsin. 

Carl was born August 31, 1921 to parents, Carl H. & Alma (Nelson) Schluter in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1938. After graduating , Carlworked as an apprentice printer for Madison Newspapers, Inc. He worked there for 43 years and retired as the Dispatch Manager on June 13, 1983.During these years he was a Boy Scout Leader, and spent his leisure time bowling, hunting and fishing. Carl’s bowling team won the American Bowling Congress Championships in 1969. He loved gardening, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family. Carl was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. He sang 18 years with the Close Quarters Barbershop Quartet, Madison Capitol Chordsmen ,and 2 years with the For---Mor Quartet. After working at Madison Newspapers, Inc. for 43 years, he retired to Fairchild, Wisconsin in 1984. Carl was a World War II veteran of the 28 th Infantry Division, serving in all 5 major campaigns in Europe. He received The Combat Infantryman's Badge, Certificate of Merit and The Bronze Star. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. He was a life member of the Zor Shrine Arab Patrol in Madison, spent 31 years with the Mehara Shrine Club and Zor Drum Corps in Eau Claire.He Raised Master Mason on February 14, 1948 and was a member of the Valley of Eau Claire Consistory.

Carl will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him, including his loving wife of 46 years, Lorraine ;son Brian (Norma) of Chillcothe, Ohio; daughter Ann Sarg (Rick) of Golden, Colorado; stepchildren, Linda Ewing Brusca (Michael) of Madison, Tom Adler of Portage and Lori Havey of Middleton, grandson’s Bryan and Kevin Sarg, Bill Cadwallader, Ryan Ewing (Tracey), Chad Adler, Ben Havey (Beth), Sam Havey; great-granddaughters Destiny Cadwallader and Makenzie Adler; niece Barb Mason (Gene);and nephew Bob Swiggum (Janice).

​He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Arline Swiggum and brother-in-law Walter Swiggum, both of Black River Falls.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, followed by Masonic and Military services at the funeral home. Friends may call Thursday from 10:30.m. and until time of services at the funeral home. A lunch will be served following the services at the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Station. Burial will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin on Friday, June 12.
