Elora Scott, 97, formerly of Augusta, passed away Wednesday morning, May 13, 2015 at Greenfield Assisted Living in Tomah.
Elora Francis Scott, daughter of Rex and Nellie (Hogeboom) McCauley was born May 3, 1918, in the Thompson Valley area of Otter Creek Township,
Eau Claire County. As a child Elora was baptized and confirmed at Thompson Valley Methodist Church and attended Pride Country School. She graduated from Osseo High School in 1936. Elora was united in marriage to Alfred Scott on Dec. 24, 1937, at the Methodist parsonage, officiated by Pastor Jewel. The couple lived and farmed the first 5 years of their marriage in Ludington Township, before moving into the city of Augusta. In addition to raising her 4 daughters, Elora worked 15 years for Bush Brothers Canning Company in Augusta, retiring in 1980.
Elora was a member of the United Methodist Church in Augusta, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the Women’s Fellowship Organization, having served in all of its’ offices. Due to failing health Elora moved to Tomah to be near her daughter and resided at Greenfield Assisted Living.
Elora will be deeply missed by her daughters, Shirley Hiland of Oshkosh, Carol and Everett Bradley of Kendall, Lois and Terry Emberson of Loganville,
Cindy and Gerald Ruether of Red Wing, MN; and a sister Mary Tumm of Osseo; 9 grandchildren, Sandy Beverls, Steven Warner, Jennifer Vlasak, Ann Meicher, Heather Meyer, Brandon Emberson, Brendon Emberson, Charles Ruether, Sarah Ruether; 9 great grandchildren, Steven Bevels, Elizabeth Bevels, Bailey Vlasak, Molly Vlasak, Chloe Emberson, Marlea Emberson, Dan Emberson, Emma Meicher, Sophie Meicher; and 4 step grandchildren.
Elora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred on Sept. 5, 2001; an infant sister and sisters, Amy Scott, Wilma Brooke and Jean Knuth.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Augusta, with Pastor Lon Jury officiating. Burial will be in the Thompson Valley Cemetery, rural Augusta. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
