Elsie C. Strader, 95, of the Augusta Area Nursing Home, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Elsie Caroline Strader, daughter of Gerald and Caroline (Erdman) Miller was born June 27, 1919 in the Foster area of Clear Creek Township, Eau Claire County. As a child she was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Foster, and attended grade school in Foster. Before her marriage she was employed at the Presto Ordinance Plant in Eau Claire. Elsie was united in marriage to Elmer Strader in 1944. The couple lived all their married life on their farm in Lincoln Township, rural Augusta, where they were members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Bears Grass. Since the closing of St. Peter's she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. After Elmer passed away, in 1975 Elsie started her 23 year employment with Bush Brothers Canning Company in Augusta. Throughout her life Elsie enjoyed her involvement with St. Peter's Ladies Aid and with the Bears Grass Homemaker's Club. At home she enjoyed raising her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Due to failing health, Elsie entered the Augusta Area Nursing Home in January of 2011.
Elsie will be dearly missed by her son, Jerald “Jerry” Strader of rural Augusta; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Verna Witte; and 5 brothers, Richard, Victor, Edgar, Abel and Alfred Miller.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating.
Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
