Kathryn Washburn, 74, of Houston, TX, formerly of Altoona and Black River Falls, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at her home in hospice care, following a year long illness.
Kathryn Ann Washburn was born May 22, 1940, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Arthur and Evelyn (Connell) Kuhnert. She was raised in Altoona, where she was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She attended school in Altoona, graduating from Altoona High School in 1958. Kathryn was united in marriage to Robert Washburn on July 5, 1959, at Hope Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. The couple had lived in Racine and Tennessee, before moving to Black River Falls in 1993. While in Black River Falls they were members of the United Methodist Church. Since 2010, they had made their home in Houston. In addition to raising her children, Kathryn had worked as a certified nursing assistant at Lincoln Lutheran Home in Racine, and at Pine View Nursing Home in Black River Falls. Throughout the years Kathryn was a soft touch for any unwanted animals, she especially loved dogs. She also enjoyed the time spent in her gardens and having a cup of coffee with friends.
Kathryn will be dearly missed by Bob Sr. of Houston, her husband of 55 years; 2 daughters, Debra and her husband, Douglas Leiting of Houston, TX, Colleen and her husband, Don Olsen of Fairchild; son, Robert Washburn Jr. of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy James.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Kathleen Jury officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
