Mara Ruth Fredericka Baker, daughter of Frederick Charles and Gina Prentice, was born, May 31, 1942 in Sussex, KingsCounty, Canada. She departed this life, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Sacred Heart Hospital Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, at the age of seventy-four years, five months and sixteen days.
On April 12, 1969 in her parent’s home in Fredericton, Canada, she was united in marriage to Orville Thomas Baker and to this union they were blessed to share three beautiful daughters. . Together they shared eighteen years of marriage before his passing on June 7, 1987.She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and her beloved step-mother, Cora Prentice.
She is survived by her three daughters, Victoria Baker and Bert of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Donna Baker and Ron of Joplin, Missouri and Christina Baker and Steve of Altoona, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Michael Baker and Michelle of Carl Junction, Missouri, Crystal Reynolds and Kenny of Van Buren, Arkansas, Angel Ohmart of Columbus, Kansas, Rena Nicholson and Josh of Kansas, Yvette Hammond of Climax Springs, Missouri, Morgan Hammond of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Scott Hammond of Altoona, Wisconsin and Shannon Hammond of Climax Springs, Missouri; a sister, SharonBecker and Hank of Prince Edward Island, Canada and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mara was raised in the New Brunswick, Canada area.Mara made a profession of faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Climax Springs, Missouri.In her spare time, she had passion for sports, such as watching the Cardinals and Royals. The sport she loved the most though, was watching NASCAR especially #24, Jeff Gordon. Mara enjoyed watching the many different birds and collecting teddy bears. She had a special talent for writing poetry. Over the years, Mara had been a member of various clubs.She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a caring neighbor and friend.
We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial followed in Mose Clark Cemetery, Climax Springs, Missouri
