Mildred “Millie” Grimm, 76, of Augusta, passed away Friday morning January 29, 2016 at the Augusta Area Nursing Home.
Millie daughter of John and Irene (Grandchamp) Simon was born June 7, 1939 in Blue Island, Illinois. She was raised in Blue Island where she was baptized and confirmed into the catholic faith and attended grade and graduated from catholic high school. Millie was united in marriage to Karl Arthur Grimm on Aug. 17, 1957 in Harvey, Illinois. The couple started their life together in Chicago, and eventually moved with their children to Wisconsin. They had lived in Stratford, Wisconsin Dells, Augusta and Fall Creek before moving to Texas. In 1990 the Grimm family moved back to Augusta. Outside her home Millie's employed was mostly in food service. She had worked as a cook at Gutches Supper Club in Fall Creek, in the dietary department as a cook at both the Augusta Area Nursing Home and the Dunn County Healthcare Center in Menomonie, and in housekeeping at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire.
Millie's life revolved around her family and it was the love for her family that kept her fighting through all her various health issues. She loved the many camping trips she had with her children and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were so important to her. Before her eyesight failed due to diabetes she spent hours crocheting and playing cards. Millie had loved to read and could still enjoy her books by listening to them on tapes. She had also looked forward to her local casino trips and finding another elephant to add to her collection.
Millie will be dearly missed by her 4 sons, Kurt Grimm of Augusta, Kenneth and Lesa Grimm of St. James, Missouri, Keith and Guadalupe “Pete” Grimm of Elk Mound, Kraig and Tara Grimm of Harlingen, Texas; daughter, Kimberly and Jeff Ducommun of Augusta; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and brother Thomas Simon of Tacoma, Washington.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband Karl on Dec. 15, 2005; daughters-in-law, Misty Grimm and Tina Grimm; and granddaughter, Tammy Grimm.
A visitation will be held prior to services Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with funeral services starting at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
