Rebecca Kortbein
Rebecca “Becky” Kortbein, 63, of rural Fairchild, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, with her family at her side. 

 Rebecca Ann Kortbein, daughter of Robert and Jean (Zingshiem) Kutchera was born March 18, 1953. She was baptized, confirmed and a life long member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairview. She was raised in rural Fairchild, attended Fairchild Elementary School and graduated from Osseo-Fairchild High School in 1971. She finished the certified nursing program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire and worked as a CNA at the Whitehall Hospital and VeteransHospital in Tomah. On June 20, 1981 she was united in marriage to Brian Kortbein at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Fairview, to this union their son was born. Becky had lived in Tomah until moving to Fairchild in 1995. While in Fairchild she enjoyed working at the Fairchild Library. A favorite pastime of Becky’s was watching Wisconsin sports; the Brewers, Packers and Badgers, especially the Badger basketball teams. She loved spending time outdoors when picking raspberries, working in the flower beds or just going for a walk. Becky also spent many hours experiencing the suspense of a Stephen King novel, along with other similar authors. With her father, she too spoiled Belle their Boston terrier, who was often referred to as their “Beautiful Little Baby.

”Becky will be dearly missed by her son, Drew of Fairchild; 3 sisters, Jeanie (Jeff) Smith of Fairchild; Julie (John) Bourke of Marathon, Mary Brevik (Rick Janssen) of Strum; 5 brothers, Bob(Debbie) Kutchera of Eau Claire, Jeff (Mylet) Kutchera of Lyons, NE, Pat (Patti) Kutchera of Fairchild, Joe (Lori) Kutchera of Augusta, John (Sheila) Kutchera of Humbird; sister-in-law, Patricia Kutchera of Neillsville, 22 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews; aunt Marie Zingshiemof Eau Claire; and many other relatives.  

Becky was preceded in death by her mother Jean on Dec. 17, 2002; father Robert on August 11, 2016; brother Mike Kutchera on Dec. 1, 2011; and nephew Travis Kutchera. 

  A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, where a 7:00 p.m. rosary service will be recited.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Fairview, rural Fairchild. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
