Mary Lighthizer
Mary L. Lighthizer, 62, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. 

Mary Louise Lighthizer, daughter of Reinhard and Elvera (Lange) Boetcher was born Feb. 16, 1953. Mary lived all her life in Augusta, except for a short time in Kenosha and Fort Hood, Texas. She was a life long baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Augusta, and a 1971 Augusta High School graduate. Mary was united in marriage to Dave Lighthizer at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Dec. 15, 1971.  

In addition to raising her sons, Mary had worked at G & W Auto Parts, Wal-Mart, and Nortech Systems before taking a position at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. While at the hospital Mary had worked in patient transport before transferring to the cafeteria staff. She was working in the cafeteria until ill health forced her early retirement in the spring of 2015.  

Over the years Mary had enjoyed raising and selling birds and puppies. She had been a charter member of the Augusta Jaycees where she enjoyed working with the Mr. Bean and Miss Beanette contestants during the 4th. of July celebration and in various parades throughout the area. She had recently joined the Augusta American Legion Auxiliary Post # 291. In addition to spending time with her family and animals, Mary enjoyed all types of crafts, knitting, crocheting and working with her flowers around her home.  
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Tony and Katie Lighthizer of Augusta, Troy and Becky Lighthizer of Eau Claire, Brad (Tami) Nerling of Kenosha; 6 grandsons, Andrew, Tanner and Justin Lighthizer, Tyler Booth, BJ and Derrick Nerling; and Addisyn, Daisia, Quentin, Tavian and Luciana the children in her life that she was like a great grandmother to; 2 sisters, Carol and LeRoy Dobrenz of Eau Claire; Sandra and Darrell Arndt of Augusta; nieces and nephews; aunt Ruth Ida of Fall Creek.  

Mary was preceded in death by her father on July 12, 1999; mother on Oct. 24, 2003; and sister Nancy Carlson on Dec. 23, 2011. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Gary Sahs officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
