Dorothy Reetz
Dorothy A. Reetz, 86, of Augusta, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2016 at the Augusta Area Nursing Home.

Dorothy Ann, daughter of Harry and Edna (Schimmelfpennig) Eaton was born March 17, 1930 in Augusta. She was baptized at home and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. As a child she attended Kirkham Valley Country School. Dorothy married Ewald Reetz on Aug. 9, 1957 in Stillwater, MN.Dorothy lived all her life in Bridge Creek Township, rural Augusta. She was a homemaker, but more importantly to her is that she was a farmer, and a very hard working one. In addition to raising her children and farming she took pride in her weed free gardens and when she delivered the Leader Telegram newspaper, she was rarely late. For several years she was also employed by Bush Brothers Canning Company in Augusta. In later years she loved collecting figurines of chickens, roosters, butterflies and hummingbirds. She taught herself to crochet in order to make blankets for all her grandchildren and their families. Dorothy loved to travel and if there was a place she could not get to by car, she loved reading about the area. She would often get in her car and be gone all day on one of her side trips.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her sons, Ewald “Butch” Reetz of Augusta; 2 daughters, Sonja (Jim) Schick of Fairchild, Barbara (Damon) LaRose of Augusta; 11 grandchildren, Darrell Schick, Michael (Nadine) Schick, Kevin Schick, Carrie (Justin Loney) Schick, Patrick (Jessica) Suckow, Stephanie (Dan) Robert LaRose, Melissa (Ken) Harriman, Heidi LaRose, Scott LaRose and Jacquelyn Reetz; 17 grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sandra Plessel of Augusta, Virginia Scanlon of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews.
