LeRoy Schauer, 87, of rural Fall Creek, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.
LeRoy Frederick Schauer, son of Herman and Wilhelmina (Kraft) Schauer was born May 23,1928, and raised on the Schauer family farm just north of Fall Creek in Lincoln Township. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and a confirmed life long member of St. James Trinity Lutheran Church of Fall Creek. He attended school in Fall Creek. LeRoy met the love of his life (Loretta May Dehnke) at Fourniers Ballroom in Eau Claire. After a 3 year courtship they were united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1954 at St.Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Bears Grass, rural Augusta. Together the couple farmed and raised their 4 children on the family farm. LeRoy was blessed to have lived a life he truly enjoyed; farming was not only his occupation, but his passion.
Over the years he had tractors, but really preferred working the farm with his draft horses. He had an appreciation for his horses and never lost interest in them. You could often find him enjoying the day at a horse auction, reading the Draft Horse Journal or attending the Minnesota State Fair walking through the horse exhibits and watching the hitches. LeRoy stopped milking in 1997, but in his mind he never actually retired. Working didn't fully consume LeRoy as he also loved to have a good time. Visiting with family and friends was a large part of his life, and if it involved old time music and dancing all the better. Growing up as the only boy in the family he cherished his time spent with his male cousins. In later years when his health started to fail he still enjoyed reading and doing whatever he could on the farm.
LeRoy will be dearly missed by Loretta, his loving wife of 61 years; 2 daughters and 2 sons, Connie (Don) Finch of Eau Claire, Neil (Connie) Schauer of Spencer, Kay (Jim) Schumacher of Fall Creek, Mike
Schauer (Lori Ryden) of Ellsworth; 9 grandchildren, Zachary (Dana) Finch, Sarah (Justin) Matott, Kerly, Ryan and Christian Schauer, Phillip, Anthony, and Samuel Schumacher, and Cole Hanson; 3 step grandchildren, Tiffany, Matt, and Marc; 2 great grandchildren, Isaac and Lauren Matott, and 3 step great grandchildren, Sebastian, Natalia, and Ashton; sister, Maureen Fohrman of Eau Claire and many other relatives and friends.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters,
Lucille Schauer and Norma Huebsch; and 2 infant brothers, Leslie and Herman Schauer.
