Betty J. Tellstrom, 92, formerly of Hayward and the Eau Claire and Fall Creek area passed away Friday at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center.
Betty Jane Marie Tellstrom was born March 1, 1924 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Blasuis) Olson. She was raised in Eau Claire and graduated from EauClaire High School. Following graduation she was employed at the egg plant in Eau Claire, where she worked until her marriage to Walter Tellstrom on April 24, 1943 in Eau Claire. The couple lived a short time in Eau Claire before moving to their farm in Seymour Township, which they operated until moving into the village of Fall Creek in 1978. After her husband passed away in 1994, Betty moved to Boy River, Minnesota, where she lived with her daughter Bonnie. In 2011 she moved to Hayward to make herhome with her daughter Sue. Due to a recent illness she was hospitalized in Eau Claireand later transferred to the Fall Creek Valley Care Center under St. Joseph’s Hospice Care. In addition to raising 5 children, Betty also helped on the farm. The farm was the hub of activity where Betty prepared large meals for the field crew or anyone who dropped in. Every Christmas day she held an open house where everyone had a wonderful time and felt very welcomed. She also loved fishing and had many enjoyable days fishing with her husband, Romaine Krenz and Gary “Satch” Hagedorn. In the later years her entertainment revolved around watching the birds she fed, admiring her flowers, reading non fiction novels and working word search puzzles.
Betty will be dearly missed by her son, Gene and Pam Tellstrom of Eau Claire; 3 daughters, Bonnie and Eugene Weyer of Brainerd, MN, Ann and Duane Bergman of rural Augusta, Sue Campbell and Dave Pecha of rural Hayward; 14 grandchildren, several step grandchildren, great and step great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; 4 siblings, Art, Earl, Viola and Fern; grandson, Vern Walter Weyer; and granddaughter, Teresa Jane Campbell.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery in Eau Claire.
Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Following services and until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday a lunch will be served at Shelly’s Bar in Fall Creek.
If you are unable to attended services at the funeral home, but could possibly attend the lunch the family would love to have you stop in to visit with them and to remember Betty.
