Carla J. Winger, 65, of Augusta, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
Carla Jean Winger daughter of Oscar and Ruth (Ylvisaker) Winger was born October 3,1951 and raised in Chippewa Falls, WI. She graduated from Chippewa High School and went on to University of Wisconsin, Madison for nursing. Carla lived in several Wisconsin homes including, Chippewa Falls, Madison, Milwaukee, Osseo, and for the past 16 years in Augusta. She was very devout with her Baha’i faith, which emphasized the unification of humanity, including all races, cultures, social classes,and religions. During the past 30 years, Carla has been active in supporting the abolishment of prejudice, and social change in her commUNITY. Carla loved to sing, play the piano, family bonfires, her cats, cow decor, gardening, Olympic figure skating, reading, Christmas ornaments, classic movies, oriental fashion, antiques, interior design and being with her spirited granddaughter. Carla was known for her zeal of “shabby chic” style, and could often be found repurposing furnishings with her own creative design. People will remember her most as a warm, loving, and colorful character.
Carla will be dearly missed by her son Sam, his wife Haixin, and granddaughter Raina, her mom, 3 sisters, Becky (Dave) Heile, Rachel (David) Haggarty, Martha (Steve) Kalk, brother Ian Winger (Denise Gruber), several nieces, nephews, the Baha’i community, friends, other relatives and neighbors. Carla was preceded in death by her father Ozzie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in Augusta. Friends and family maycome to the funeral home 1 hour before start of service for a viewing and to pay respects.
Carla will be covered during the ceremony and follow Baha’i burial practices. We will always carry your vivacious and loving memory in our hearts’.
