Michael R. Baker, 59, of rural Augusta, passed away early Monday morning, January 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with his wife by his side.
Michael Richard Baker, son of Richard and Dorathy (Green) Baker was born December 24, 1957. He was raised in Ludington Township, rural Augusta, and was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ludington. Mike attended grade and high school in Augusta. Mike had worked as a sawyer and sawmill operatorfor several years in Colorado. While in Colorado he also enjoyed riding horse while working on a cattle ranch. Mike eventually made a career change and for over 15 years he worked as a pipe fitter for several pipeline companies. Mike enjoyed this job as it took him to several job sites throughout the United States. He was a member of the Pipeliners Local Union 798 out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mike was united in marriage to Jill Finseth on June 30, 2007, and together Mike and Jill lived in their 5th wheeler traveling to the various job sites. In earlier years Mike had enjoyed fishing with family and friends. He developed a real interest in history and in particular the Civil War era. Mike also enjoyed and spent many hours collecting and restoring John Deere tractors as well as a few other makes.
Mike will be dearly missed by his wife Jill; father Richard of rural Augusta; sister Ramona Van Horn of Long Beach, MS; brother Gregory Baker of Hill City, SD; daughter Cassie: nephew Scott Baker (Lorien) ; 2 nieces, Angela (Tim) Ross and Ashley Skaare; and father-in-law Al Finseth of Augusta. Mike was preceded in death by his mother Dorathy on Aug. 18, 2014; and brothers, Patrick on Nov. 1, 1977, and Neal on Jan. 15, 2014.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
