Ada I. Kuehn, 94, of Eau Claire, passed away with her family at her side early Monday morning, July 17, 2017, at Dove Healthcare Center-West, Eau Claire.
Ada Irene Kuehn, daughter of Rudolph and Ida (Honadel) Boernke was born Nov. 11, 1922 in rural Fall Creek. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fall Creek. She attended school in Fall Creek where she graduated from highschool in 1944, and then furthered her education by attending Eau Claire Vocational School. Before her marriage she worked in the payroll department of Uniroyal Tire Company. On Oct. 10, 1943 she was united in marriage to Warren Robert Kuehn at St.John’s Lutheran Church, Fall Creek. The couple farmed together in Otter Creek Township and for a time she had also worked in food service at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Ada and Warren moved into the village of Fall Creek in 1981, and eventually moved to Eau Claire. She had been a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Foster before transferring her membership in 1973 to Peace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Ada enjoyed her membership and involvement with the “Happy” Homemaker’s Club of Eau Claire County. She was also a member of Lutheran Counseling and Family Service Auxiliary and had volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Shop for a number of years.
Ada is survived by her Warren, her husband of 73 years; son, Gary and Virginia Kuehn of Mondovi; 3 daughters, LaVonne Halverson of Eau Claire, Janice and Gary Thompson of Wittenberg, Marjory and Rick McCaigue of Rhinelander; 9 grandchildren, Scott, Rodney (Crystal), Kelly (Greg), Valeria (Sarah), Douglas (Jennica), Jason (Elizabeth), Gered (Danika), Katelyn and Jacob; and 12 great grandchildren, Samantha, Luke, Hunter, Rylie, Carter, Preston, Isaiah, Griffin, Cooper, Bennett, Graham and Stella. She was preceded in death by her 4 brothers, Raymond, Rev. Donald, Gary and Hans Boernke; and 4 sisters, Lydia Boernke, Ruth Hepburn, Hazel Zimmerman and Beata Strasburg.
Private memorial services will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Foster.
