Vic Lane
Vic Lane, 91, of Augusta, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation.

Vic Lane, son of Daniel and Prudence (Vermilyea) Lane was born August 25, 1925, in the Town of Ludington, Eau Claire County. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Seymour, he attended Woodland Valley Country School in Ludington Township and graduated from Fall Creek High School. Vic was united in marriage to the love of his life, Helen Louise Dewitz on September 24, 1944 in Fall Creek. Together the couple shared 69 years of marriage. They began their life together in Ludington Township before moving into the village of Fall Creek in 1952. From 1968 until 1976 they farmed in the Fall Creek area, where he was proud of the registered Jersey’s they raised. At this time Vic also worked for the road department with Eau Claire County. From 1976 until 1990 he owned and operated V & H Transport, hauling bulk milk for the Dairy Maid Co-op Creamery in Augusta, and then MidAm Creamery out of Bloomer. When he retired from hauling milk he and Helen moved into the city of Augusta, where he and his wife owned and operated V & H Animal Health Products. Vic was a workaholic and finally retired from this job when he was 85 years old, but that only gave him more time to tend to his large organic vegetable gardens, of which he had many throughout the years. Vic loved working with the large trucks and keeping them in excellent condition was very important to him. Through the years he was also fond of horses.

Vic will be remember as a man who loved telling stories while interjecting them with his sense of humor. His beautiful smile and twinkle in his eyes will be dearly missed by his 7 children, Patricia “Trish” (Denny) Streveler of Eau Claire, Phyllis (Greg) Pettis of Huron, S.D., Jackie Husting of Menomonie, John (Kathy) Lane of Aurora, CO, Bobbi (Fred) Winkler of Prescott, Dan (Patsy) Lane of Polk City, IA, Judy (Mike) Sedahl) of Altoona; 15 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, June
Dewitz of Eau Claire, Ruth Dewitz of Muskego; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen on Nov. 13, 2013; daughter, Connie McCoy on June 7, 2014; granddaughters, Amber and Andrea Eichman, Danielle Pettis; son-in-law, Dick Husting; brother, Roy and Edna Lane; sister, Naomi Johnson.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial in the Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek.

Due to family allergies it is requested that no fresh flower arrangements be sent for the visitation and service. The Lane family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and residents of the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation for welcoming Vic into their hearts and for giving him such wonderful care. Knowing that his life there was filled with love and laughter meant the world to his family.
