Wayne Linder
Wayne P. Linder, 84, life long resident of Augusta, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. 

Wayne was born Oct. 26, 1932 in Augusta to Logan and Lydia (Osborne) Linder. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1951 and following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge he returned to Augusta where he was united in marriage to Lois Wolfgang on Sept. 16, 1961 at Grace Lutheran Church. Wayne was first employed in Augusta as a meat cutter for both, Korth Brothers and Harden Grocery. In 1966 he began his employment with the Eau Claire County Highway Department, working first on the highway crew, then as a welder, and when he retired after 30 years he was in Altoona working as the shop foreman. Wayne loved the outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing or working in his many gardens. Over the years he also plowed up the gardens for many individuals in Augusta. Wayne was a member of the Augusta V.F.W. Post # 8478. 

Wayne will be dearly missed by his wife Lois, a resident of the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation Center; son David Linder of Augusta; daughter Joy and Eric Wackwitz of Eau Claire; 2 grandchildren, Michael and Samantha Wackwitz; brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard Wolfgang of Adel, and Arnold “Buck” and Nancy Wolfgang of Augusta. Wayne was preceded in death by his father in 1950; his mother in 1993; and a brother Myron in infancy in 1929. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
