Chester Maug
Chester Gilbert Maug was born on April 29th, 1928 in the town of Hale to Carl and Mollie (Iverson) Maug.  

Chester was married to NilaAnn Henning on July 21, 1956. Together they had four daughters and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Chet worked hard to provide for his family. He was employed by Osseo Silo Company and Osseo Welding. He also worked part time assisting with maintenance for the Osseo Senior Citizen Apartments and enjoyed visiting with the tenants and made ongoing friendship with some of them. Chet lived a life full of outdoor adventure, craftsmanship, tradition, and loving his wife Nila, and their four daughters, Marilyn, Sandra, Lona, and Joy. Chet was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had the ability to make others laugh by joking around or simply by smiling and laughing. He took great pride in his work. Whether it was carpentry or mowing the lawn, Chet would always make sure the job was done right. Throughout life Chet enjoyed having horses and competing in pony pulls. Dozens of trophies lined his shelves from local to national competitions. Chet spoke fondly of his Norwegian heritage and made lefse every year. He spent his recent years caring for his beloved dog Teddy and looking forward to visits from friends and family to share a cup of coffee and cookies. 

In addition to his wife Nila, he is survived by his four daughters, Marilyn (Doug) Pederson of Osseo, Sandra Maug of Spring Grove, MN, Lona (Henry) Hollister of Strum and Joy (Mark) Partlow of Mondovi; 10 grandchildren, Brooke Pederson of Eau Claire, Vaughn Pederson of Eau Claire, Elizabeth Kuehn of Eau Claire, Patrick Pederson of Osseo, Leon Maug of Spring Grove, MN, Carly Cleveland of Caledonia, MN, Lavinia Cleveland of Lacrosse, JenniferInsteness of Osseo, Tony Casper of Independence and Ashlie Kimmerle of Hubertus, WI; 12 great grandchildren; sister Ruth Engenof Strum; and many nieces and nephews. 

Chester was preceded in death by brothers, John Maug and Clarence Maug, sisters Harriet Anderson, Corrine Ottestad and Lillian Mhyre. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osseo. 

 Memorial services conducted by Rev. Valerian Ahles will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. atthe church, with burial at a later date in the Osseo Cemetery.
