Herman Muhe
Herman J. Muhe, 91, of rural Alma Center, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at his home in the loving care of his family and Black River Memorial Hospital.

Herman Junior Muhe, son of Herman and Viola (Copple) Muhe was born Feb. 19, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa. Herman was raised in the Sioux City area where he attended South Sioux High School. On Oct. 15, 1943, Herman entered the United States Navy and received medical training at the Chicago Naval Base and at Quonset Point, Rhode Island. During his tour he served as a Pharmacist's Mate 3rd. Class on the hospital ship the USS Sanctuary. This ship sailed in the South West Pacific Islands treating the wounded and it was the first ship to rescue the imprisoned U.S. soldiers during the Bataan Death March in Japan. He also experienced the destruction at Nagasaki, Japan, and was at sea when the ship encountered an extremely violent hurricane. Herman was honorably discharged on Feb. 2, 1947.  Herman was united in marriage to Treva Stuart on Oct. 4, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Kimball, Nebraska.He had worked in the oil fields of Pine Bluff, Wyoming and then farmed in Kimballwith Treva. In 1963 the couple moved to Jackson County in Wisconsin where Treva's father was living. Since 1965 they had lived in their present home where Herman enjoyed his hobby farm. As an adult he was baptized by Pastor Dale Hazard with the Augusta Assembly of God. 

He will be dearly missed by Treva, his wife of 70 years his wife, Treva of rural AlmaCenter; 2 sons, Mark and Mary Muhe of Alma Center, Marlin and Wendy Muhe of Bryan, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Brittnay, Ryan and Matthew Muhe and Caleb Muhe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bruce, Jack and Robert Muhe and sisters, Billie Dove and Beverly Keyes.Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Augusta, with Pastor Dale Hazard officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday starting at noon.
