Marlene J. Nething, 80, formerly of Fairchild, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Dove Healthcare-West, Eau Claire.
Marlene J. Nething, daughter of Archibald and Hazel (Richards) Shilts was born Dec. 29, 1936. She was raised in Edson Township in Chippewa County, where she attended Robinson Grade School and graduated from Stanley HighSchool. Marlene was united in marriage to Wilbert “Bill” Nething on September 24, 1962 in Minnesota. The couple lived in Stanley, where in addition to Wilbert hauling livestock they also owned and operated a game farm. In 1982 they moved to Milwaukee, and there they managed 3 large apartment complexes. In 1989 they moved into the village of Fairchild. While in Fairchild they were members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and also served as church janitors. After her husband passed away on May 29, 2002, Marlene continued living in Fairchild until moving to Moore Assisted Living in Augusta. Due to failing health she recently entered the Dove Healthcare-West.
Marlene is survived by several cousins. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brother Roland; and sisters, Beverly and Sylvia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Ricky Bertels officiating. Burial will be in the Fairchild Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
