Rachel Olson
Rachel Louise (Hagen) Olson, age 75 of Strum, WI passed away with her family by her side at Dove Healthcarein Osseo on August 28, 2017.

Rachel was born on December 14, 1941, to William and Ruth (Berge) Hagen on the family farm in the Town of Hale. She attended Osseo High School until her senior year when she transferred and graduated from Eleva-Strum High School in Strum. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael T. Olson, on November 28, 1959,in Strum.After raising her four children, Rachel worked for Brumberg Oil Company (later bought by Direct Oil Company) for 25 years before retiring. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that loved camping, pontooning, gardening, watching the birds she fed, spending winters in Arizona, and most of all spending time with her family.

Rachel is survived by her husband of 57 years, Michael; children, Scott (Lyndy) of Glenwood City, Bjorn (Judy) of Eau Claire, Lisa (Jerome) Lanners of Altoona, Lori (Tom) Jaskowski of Eleva; ten grandchildren, Mellissa (Brian) Huelsbeck, Jennifer (Jonathan Shir) Olson, Justin (Mesa Mendoza) Olson, Ashley (Pam Evenson) Olson, Barret Olson, Alex and Kiara Lanners, Brandon (Julie) Olson, Taylor and Lauren Jaskowski; six great-grandchildren, Ophelia Olson, Teague and Breya Olson, Abigail, Brady and Jack Olson; two sisters and one brother, Gertrude (Marshall) Solie of Eau Claire, William Jul Hagen of Great Falls, MT, Ellen (Rocky) Thompson of Osseo; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Joanne Brion of Strum, Geraldine Bauer of Mondovi, Orrine O’Brien of Strum, Robert Olson of Eau Claire. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, family and friends, and her beloved dog, Jax.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Hagen; parents-in-law, Orrie and Julia Olson; sister-in-law, Helen Hagen; and four brothers-in-law, Walter “Bud” Brion, Bernard Bauer, Joseph Klimek, and Roger O’Brien.

The family would like to give a special “thank you” to the staff at the Mayo Clinic in Osseo, Dove Healthcare - Osseo and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care.A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 p.m. at the church with visitation starting one hour prior to services.  

A private family burial will take place at a later date at West Beef River Cemetery in Strum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Strum and West Beef River Cemetery of Strum.
