Elizabeth Rugotzke
RUGOTZKE, Elizabeth, 86, of Augusta, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017, with her family at her side at the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation. 

Elizabeth Jeanette, daughter of Walter and Sarah (Sperber) Reetz was born May 20, 1930 in Bridge Creek Township, rural Augusta. She was a life long resident of Eau Claire County. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, attended Bills Country School and graduated from Augusta High School. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Willis Julius Rugotzke on Sept. 10, 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Rev. E.G. Schedler officiating. The couple farmed all their married life just west of Augusta in Lincoln Township. Elizabeth and Willis raised their 3 children on the farm and they were all active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church-Bears Grass. When the couple retired from farming they moved into the city of Augusta in1997. Shortly after their moved to Augusta, Willis passed away onJan. 16, 1998. 

Elizabeth had been an active member of St. Peter’s Ladies Aid andwith the church took her monthly turn working at Bethesda Thrift Shop in Eau Claire. She had worked on the election board of Lincoln Township, and with Rosie Harden she enjoyed making beautiful quilts. Along with farming, Elizabeth raised chickens and each Saturday she made the egg run to her customers selling dozens of eggs over the years. She always loved raising a variety of flowers and also planted a generous garden each year and enjoyed canning her produce. She was always there to help her elderly friends whenever they needed assistance, often taking them to various appointments. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and especially loved the role as grandmother and great grandma and looked forward to spending time with all of them. Since the closing of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church she had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. 

Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her daughter, Rhonda and George Webster of rural Fall Creek; 2 sons, Ryan Rugotzke of Augusta, Randy and Kristine Rugotzke of Arcadia; 7 grandchildren, Tonya (Vince) Garcia of Lake of the Hills, IL; Lee Webster of Boyceville, Chelsie (Jason) Korpal, Toby (Michelle) Rugotzke, Reid Rugotzke all of Arcadia, Danielle Palkowski of Santa Rancho Margarita, CA, Lucas Palkowski of Fargo, N.D. ; 8 great grandchildren, Isabella and Dominic Garcia, Jacob Webster, Damian and Jaidyn Korpal, Larkyn Rugotzke, Audreya and Brogan Solberg; sister-in-law, Jeanette Reetz of Augusta; several nieces and nephews. 

Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Everett, Ewald and Edward Reetz, Elaine Harte and Eleanor Corris.  

Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with burial in West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
