Delores M. Salter, 87, of Eau Claire, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017, at her home in the loving care of her family.
Delores Margaret, was born March 27, 1930 in Eau Claire, daughter of Bernard and Leona (Strauch) Lee. She was raised in Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire High School. Delores was united in marriage to William H. Salter on Aug. 12, 1950, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Bill and Delores lived all their married life in Eau Claire, where they raised their 8 children. In addition to being a wife and mother, she had also worked at Uniroyal Tire Company and then as a nursing assistant for Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. When she retired in 1992, she had 22 years of employment with the hospital. Delores was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Eau Claire, and enjoyed her involvement with the Catholic Women’s Club. When her sons were active in Cub Scouts she had served as a Den Mother. She always looked forward to the bus trips she made with her husband, day trips to near by casinos, camping and gardening. When her husband was doing his wood working projects, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working on other crafts. She especially loved socializing with friends and family.
Delores will be dearly missed by her 3 sons, William J. (Ann) Salter of Anoka, MN, David (Maureen) Salter of Springbrook, Glenn Salter of Eau Claire; 5 daughters, Judy (Dennis) Mangan of Eagan, MN, Karen (Jerry) Proper of Chatfield, MN, Carol (Alan) Osland of Stewartville, MN, Linda (Leonard) Kasten of Plainview, MN, Ann (Patrick) Peeso of Augusta; 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marge McCartney and Norma Brotzman both of
Eau Claire; and special friends, Sandy Schmidt of Coon Rapids, MN, Anne McIntyre of Eau Claire.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William on Sept. 24,2011; brother Glenn Lee; and great granddaughter, Thea Ann Torgerson.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at the church with Very Rev. Donald Meuret officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
