James Stephan
James E. Stephan, 85, of rural Fall Creek, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home. 

James Edward Stephan, son of Ernest and Margaret (Kriesel) Stephan was born in Eau Claire on Jan. 9, 1932. He was raised near Augusta and attended the Dells Country School. He had worked for various farmers in the Augusta area before entering the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When he returned from Korea he worked on a ranchin Thunder Hawk, North Dakota. While in the Dakotas he met Novella Anderson of Lemmon, South Dakota. The couple eventually married on Feb. 24, 1959 in Lemmon. They lived in Thunder Hawk near Lemmon, before moving to Wisconsin and Chicago. Since the mid 1960’s they had lived in Seymour Township, rural Fall Creek. Jim had been employed by Dolly Madison Dairy, which became Marigold andis now known as Kemps Dairy. He worked in all aspects of the dairy from bottling to delivery, and when he retired at age 65 he was working in the warehouse . In additionto working, Jim also enjoyed his hobby farm where over the years he raised almost allkinds of farm animals and fowl. He also enjoyed the annual deer hunt and fishing in the area. 

 Jim will be dearly missed by his daughter, Nancy (Jeff) McCann of Fall Creek; 2 sons, James and Jennifer Stephan of Fall Creek, Richard and Kathryn Stephan of Eau Claire;10 grandchildren, Becky England, Timothy (Amanda) Stephan, Christopher Stephan, Julia Paur, Aaron Stephan, Sara Stephan, Gavin (Melissa) McCann, Cory, Travis and Mikayla McCann; 6 great grandchildren, Brendon and Micah Stephan, Elijah England, Ayden Bluem, Wyatt McCann, Mason Stephan; and sister Catherine Rahl of Altoona. 

 Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Novella on Dec. 19, 2012; grandson, Alex McCann, and siblings, Richard, Benny, Harold and Anton Stephan, Frieda Schultz, Emma Van Dalsen, Martha Bender, Jessie Lipke and Doris Staffon. 

 Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Seymour Township, rural Fall Creek. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
