James Trachsel
James A. Trachsel, 82, of Humbird, passed away at his home on Wednesday evening, May 17, 2017.

James Arthur Trachsel, son of Fredrick and Mildred (Anderson) Trachsel was born Jan.25, 1935. He was a life long resident of the village of Humbird, where he was baptized and confirmed at the United Church of Christ, attended elementary and high school and graduated from Alma Center High School. On April 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Darleen Barka at the E.U.B. Church in Augusta. For 23 years Jim worked in the fire protection area with the Conservation Department /DNR. He then worked 6 years with the Jackson County Iron Mine in Black River Falls. Upon their closing, he purchased a dump truck and for the next 17 years he was an owner/operator working in the truck division with Mathy Constructionout of Amery. After selling the truck he worked another 5 years for the company as a parts runner. This, being seasonal employment gave him the opportunity during the winter months to operate his car repair and blacksmithing shop in Humbird. Jim had always enjoyed being a part of his children lives; helping with Boy Scouts andattending as many of their functions as he could. Due to failing health during his retirement years, he wasn’t able to participate in things like he would have liked.

Jim will be dearly missed by Darleen, his wife of 61 years; 3 sons, Boyd and Sherri of Amherst, Bruce and Brenda of Fall Creek, Robyn and Shari of Fairchild; daughter Holly and Michael Kuzba of Marshfield; brother, Fred (Ramona) of Rochester; 8 grandchildren, Bridgett (Jeremiah) Raine, Brock (Stacy) Trachsel, Benjamin (Laura) Trachsel, Billie Jo (Zachary) Stephens, Jessica Trachsel (Jon Jaeger), Issac Trachsel, Tayelor Kuzba (Jim Daniel), Briann Kuzba; and 12 great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Humbird. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Pat Trotter officiating. Burial will be in the Mentor Cemetery, rural Humbird.

Remembering Grandpa: Yesterday my Gramps left us…it was peaceful and my dad held his hand. Grandpa, you always wrapped us in bear hugs like a big teddy bear, squeezed my hand during prayer, when I asked “how are you, Grandpa?” You always replied, “next to perfect.” When you poured us a glass of milk you told us to tell you, “when.” If we said stop, that’s good or anything else you kept pouring. You were gentle, kind and witty with a twinkle in your eye. You told jokes, played games with us and drove a big dump truck. You worked hard and were so smart… you knew everything and could fix anything (my dad learned from the best because he’s just as smart and handy.) If you weren’t home we knew where to find you at the shop or having coffee. 61 married years, 4 kids, 8 grands and 12 great grands. Forever in our hearts.
