Janet T. Hart, 79, of rural Strum, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday evening, Dec. 22, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire, following a sudden illness.
Janet Therese Hart, daughter of Edmond and Madeline (Syres) Duffy was born on April 23, 1939 in Eau Claire. Janet was raised in Eau Claire where she was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1957. She followed in her mother’s footsteps by attaining her teaching degree when she graduated magna cum laude from U.W. Eau Claire in 1961. Before her marriage she taught for a year in Wausau. On June 23, 1962, Janet was united in marriage to Robert William Hart at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The couple lived all their married life on the Hart family home farm in Clear Creek Township, rural Strum. After her husband passed away in 1985, Janet became re-certified in teaching and taught as a substitute in the local school districts until 1991. At this time she took a position with Wal-Mart and worked in various departments of the store for 22 years until she retired at the age of 75.Janet enjoyed gardening and reading a good mystery novel. During her life she had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and also worldwide. With a group of friends known as the “Slim and Trim Club”, she with the other women ventured out on Fridays to experience a new fish fry. She was a member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Bracket but looked forward to singing at various events with the women of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church. Janet will be remembered as a dear soul who had a loved for life and a unique and amazing sense of humor.
Janet will be dearly missed by her 3 sons, Michael (Kristine) Hart, Erin (Joann “Tootie”) Hart, Daniel (Amanda) Hart all of Strum; 2 daughters, Corinne (Richard) Schultz of Eagan, MN, Jeanne (Brian) Flaskrud of Eau Claire; 6 grandchildren, Bailey and Lauren, Tyler and Hailey, Deslyn and Karli, and Charles; 4 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Janet was also preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters, Mary Claire Gorell and Kathleen Duffy.A visitation will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Raymond’s of Penafort Catholic Church in Brackett, rural Fall Creek, where a funeral mass will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
