Larry M. Knuth, 67, of rural Whitehall passed away on December 30, 2017 at Padre Pio Medical Hospital in San Mateo, Rizal in the Philippines, while visiting friends.
Larry Marvin Knuth, son of Marvin and Jean (McCauley) Knuth was born April 18, 1950 in Eau Claire. He was raised in the Fall Creek area where he was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1964 at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church. Larry attended Fall Creek High School and after high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After doing three tours in the Vietnam War he return home to the United States. Larry decided that he would enlist in United States Army and retire after 20 years. Larry was stationed at Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Spring, Colorado. After retirement he returned to Wisconsin and settled in Hayward where he and Rick Miller operated M & K Construction Company.While in the service he was united in marriage to Carol Lee Grohn on Feb. 3, 1973 atSt. John’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. During their marriage they lived in Kentucky and Germany before being station in Colorado. They divorced in 1991. He was married two times after that.He later moved to Montello, Mauston and Elk Mound, his last resided in Whitehall.
All through his life Larry had enjoyed working and being around horses. He also enjoyed riding 4 wheelers but his real passion was riding motorcycles. He loved the wind on his face and riding with family and friends, no matter what the temperature was. He was still able to ride after converting his Harley to a trike model.
Larry will be dearly missed by his daughter, Christine Hjornevik (Michael Wogh) of Whitehall; 3 sons, Richie (Tracie) Knuth of Elk Mound, Robert Knuth (Kerri White) of Seward, Kansas, Raymond Knuth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 12 grandchildren, Boone (Corrin Kramer) Wogh, Debbie (Cody) McNulty, Brittany (Taylor Allen) Waldera, Mackenzie Hjornevik, Ryan Wogh, Melanie, Samantha and Paige Knuth, Robert Jr. and Lailah Knuth, J.J.Stanfford , Kayley Knuth; 3 great grandchildren, Emmitt Allen, Jameson McNulty and Brooklyn Wogh; 3 sisters, Bonnie (Harold) Burton, Diane Pecha, Nancy (Danny) Franson all of Hayward and 1 brother Steven Knuth of Fall Creek; many nieces, nephews, their families, step children and step grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Jean; brother Michael Knuth; and his children’s mother Carol.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the VFW Hall Post 7232 located at 2900 West Folsom Street in Eau Claire.
