Bonnie K. Olson, 62, formerly of Fairchild and Augusta, passed away Saturday evening, May 26, 2018 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona, surrounded by her loving family and also in the care of St. Croix Hospice.
Bonnie Kay Olson, daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Kerttula) Mayne was born Feb. 4, 1956 in Cloquet, MN. She was raised in Cloquet where she graduated highschool in 1974 and also attended C.N.A. training. On December 18, 1976 she was united in marriage to Steve Olson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet. The couple lived in Kamiah, Idaho, and during this time their 3 daughters were born. In 1981, to be near her parents the family moved to Cadott and then to Eau Claire before moving to Fairchild in 1992. After her divorce she and her mother moved to the St. Paul’s Apartments in Augusta. Due to ill health she entered the Augusta Area Nursing Home and 2 years ago moved to Oakwood Villa Nursing Home. While in Eau Claire she attended C.V.T.C. in the Counselor Program for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse. She was extremely active with the Sundowners Drum and Bugle Corp and had served as its manager for several years. After the Sundowners disbanded she started the Northern Lights Drum and Bugle Corp, working 2 years with that group. Bonnie also had enjoyed hunting and fishing in the earlier years, and in later years got involved in woodworking crafts, reading, and looked forward to playing BINGO on Sunday afternoon’s at the nursing home with her grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her 4 children, Joshua Olson (Rose Woodford), Doty (Joseph)Rogalski, and Amanda Ladwig all of Fairchild, Jessica Olson of Baxter, MN; mother, Dorothy Kerttula of River Pine Nursing Home in Altoona; brother, Robert (Jane) Mayne of Minnesota; 2 sisters, Trudy (Kenny) Olson of Minnesota, Dora (Randy) Johnston of Mondovi; 10 grandchildren, Makayla Cullins, Charles Ladwig, Jacob Rogalski, Brenden Rogalski, Tristan Rogalski, Chase Ladwig, Aubrie Olson, Cole Cantu, Samuel Rogalski, Liam Olson; 9 nieces and 6 nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father Charles Mayne and sister Tina Grimm.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held Saturday, JUNE 23, 2018 from 2:00 p.m.to 5 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, Burial will be at a later date.
