Margarette Walker Rickertsen, 95, a resident at Dove Healthcare Center-Osseo, passed away peacefully at the home on Thursday evening January 18, 2018.
Margarette Loretta was born May 5, 1922 in Sebeka, Minnesota, the daughter of Archie and Maude (Todd) Kirby. On July 30, 1938 she was united in marriage to Bervil “Bud” Walker. The couple lived in Wisconsin Rapids and St. Paul before moving to Fairchild. While in Fairchild she had been employed at both the Fairchild and Osseo Nursing Homes, she also worked as a waitress for Dewey Walker at his restaurant in Fairchild. After Bud passed away on June 6, 1988, she married Orville Rickertsen on Feb. 4, 1989 in Mercedes, Texas. With Orville the couple wintered in Texas and spent the summer months in Clinton, Iowa. Margarette moved to an assisted living facility in Whitehall in July of 2009, and then to a memory care unit in Eau Claire, before moving to the Osseo Nursing Home and from there to the Dove Health Care Center-Osseo. Margarette enjoyed dancing; especially tap dancing and playing the harmonica. She always enjoyed traveling and looked forward to the Texas trip in the fall and the Iowa trip in the spring.
Margarette is survived by her 3 sons, Jerald and Marie Walker of Coupeville, Washington, Archie and Judy Walker of Morristown, Florida, Bruce and Jan Walker of Osseo; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Florence Senske of St. Paul, MN, and Marion Kime of Merrillan.
In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Betty Lou Sagstetter and 3 brothers, Pat, Mike and Keith Kirby.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the spring in the Mentor Cemetery in Humbird.
