LaVern Wahlin
LaVern R. Wahlin, 77, of rural Augusta, passed away early Friday morning June 8,2018 with his family by his side at the Augusta Healthcare and Rehabilitation and also in the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. 

 LaVern Robert, son of Harold and L. Ruth (Johnson) Wahlin was born May 31, 1941 in Madison. He was raised in Madison and graduated from Central High School. On June 17, 1967 he was united in marriage to Karen Ann Kromrey at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. The couple lived for a brief time in Fall Creek and Eau Claire before moving to their hobby farm and present home in Otter Creek Township, rural Augusta. LaVern worked all of his life in road construction as a job supervisor with James Peterson and Sons out of Medford and before retiring in 2000, he was employed byF.H. Raemisch and Sons of Waunakee.LaVern spent many enjoyable hours working with wood, especially building furniture and cabinets. Before suffering several strokes with the most debilitating in 2012, he had enjoyed metal detecting, working in his garden, hunting and fishing. He still enjoyed sporting events on television and reading. He never lost his interest in owning new gadgets, as modern technology was always fascinating to him and he was never intimidated and always eager to learn.  

LaVern is survived by his wife, Karen; 3 sons, Loren and Sheri Wahlin of Chippewa Falls, Kevin Wahlin (Nancy Smith) of Boyd, Steve and Tammy Wahlin of Crystal, MN; 4 grandchildren, Kayla Wahlin, Eli and Lucas Wahlin, August Wahlin; great granddaughter, Angel Wahlin; 2 brothers, Donald (Carol) Wahlin of Stoughton, Gerald Wahlin (Sandra Allbee) of Rolling Hills Estate, CA; sister, Linda (Steve) Hoffmann of Tarpon Springs, FL.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Lori Wahlin. 

 Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial at a later date in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Foster. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
