Rhonda R. (Rugotzke) Webster, 64, of rural Fall Creek, has gone to join the Lord’s Gospel Choir. Rhonda passed away in Augusta, with her loving family by her side Tuesday afternoon Feb. 27, 2018, she was also in the care of Mayo Home Hospice.
Rhonda Renae was born April 25, 1953, the oldest and only daughter born to Willis and Elizabeth (Reetz) Rugotzke. Rhonda’s faith was an important part of her life, beginning with her baptism and confirmation at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bears Grass, rural Augusta. She continued her membership with the church until it closed and then transferred her membership to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek.Rhonda attended Russell Corner Country School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1971. Following graduation she attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and attained a degree in food service. Her first job was decorating cakes at Randall’s Foods in Eau Claire before taking a position as the morning cook at the Bail-i-wick in Osseo. It was at the Bail-i-wick that she met her future husband George Webster. The couple were united in marriage on Sept. 28, 1974 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. For the first 3 years of their marriage they lived in Augusta and then moved to their current home on Lincoln Drive, rural Fall Creek.
Following her marriage she worked for a time in the kitchen of the Augusta Nursing Home and after her children were born she stayed home to raise them during their early years. Rhonda then served the Fall Creek School District for thirty years and touched the lives of numerous children and families. She was one of the most dependable people most of us have ever known. Rhonda started working for the School District in September of 1987 as an aide and worked in various capacities including Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten, First Grade, lunchroom and playground supervision, summer school aide, safety patrol, and summer custodial work. She was a dedicated staff member who dispensed a contagious smile and warm hugs as she worked her way through the day. She was also a dependable volunteer to help with concessions at school functions to raise funds for the post graduation parties. She will be deeply missed.
Through the years Rhonda had always enjoyed her large flower and vegetable gardens, canning her produce and also sharing with others what she grew. Singing was one of her very favorite pastimes and looked forward to singing with the annual Dicken’s Choir and the One Voice Choir that sang so often in the local area. As a long time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, she was very active with the Ladies Dorcas Society, served as Sunday school superintendent, church treasurer, and Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher. While at St. John’s she was a member of its ladies society, the church choir, and served as the Sunday school music director.
Rhonda will be deeply missed by George, her husband of 43 years; son Lee Webster (Jessica Pena) Boyceville; daughter Tonya (Vince) Garcia of Lake in the Hills, IL; 3 grandchildren, Dominic and Isabella Garcia, Jacob Webster; brothers, Ryan Rugotzke of Augusta, Randy (Kristi) Rugotzke of Arcadia; sister-in-law, Judy Solberg of Osseo; nieces and nephews, Chelsie, Toby, Reid, Danielle, Luke, Heidi, Amy and Brady; her “work daughter” Jodi Madden of Fall Creek; other relatives, many friends and her special Fall Creek school children past and present.
